We dig dinosaurs and you can to |

A brief introduction to both the town the expedition is based near and the formation where we find dinosaurs. |
So what is Jordan like? The town has 2 restaurants, also 2 bars which serve food as well. The Hell Creek Bar is famous for being depicted in the film Jurassic Park III. There is a post office, grocery store and Laundromat, pharmacy with old fashion soda fountain/ice cream parlor, 2 motels, 2 gas stations, VFW Hall, public library, 8 or 9 churches covering a wide variety of denominations, fairgrounds, cemetery, small airport, processing plant, bank, public swimming pool, and auto garage. These are all located on the two paved streets in town. The locals are friendly, mostly ranchers. True cowboy country. |

The Hell Creek Formation of eastern Montana is a formation of sedimentary rock containing primarily sandstones, mudstones, siltstones, and a few strata bear coal. Dating back from 65 to 66.5 million years old, the Hell Creek Formation represents the final one million years of the dinosaur’s 160 million year reign on earth. Immediately below the Hell Creek Formation is the Fox Hills Sandstone. This is a marine deposit occurring before the Hell Creek time, when the Cretaceous Interior Seaway was withdrawing easterly, away from the young Rocky Mountains. Once the Seaway had withdrawn about as far as Glendive, MT the Hell Creek Formation sediment began to be laid down. Therefore, the Hell Creek Formation is representative of a lowland environment, not far from the beaches of the Interior Seaway. Due to the acidity of the soils, apparently dinosaur eggs could not be preserved, as no eggs have been found from the Hell Creek Formation. Yet. |
